Marcia Sumara, The Cooking Mogul
Hi and welcome to my blog!
I am a big fan of food. Naturally, with the love of food comes the love of cooking (well at least it happens to me!). The most fabulous flavours of food comes from fresh ingredients, herbs and spices, and my idea of cooking is having fun experimenting with these. Although I check out recipe books from time to time to learn about new ingredients and to get the basic ideas, I believe that cooking freestyle without the recipe in front of me is the best.
Just like creating artwork or any other creative activity, I believe that cooking must come from the heart. Cooking for the people dear to you is an act of love. I think people should express love freely, not by the book, and not by following what other people tell you how you should do it. Cook what you want according to your need at any one time. If you have just finished work and you’re really hungry, there’s no point roasting a turkey for hours to perfection while a simple chicken stir fry can satisfy your hunger in a matter of minutes.
My dear husband would happily try and eat whatever I come up with from the kitchen. He has been my guinea pig for years, and I can tell you that he is still alive, healthy and happy, so I can’t be too wrong about my kitchen philosophy
I also have friends coming over every now and then for lunch or dinner, or I would bring some cakes for my colleagues at work, and often get asked for the recipes. They used to be puzzled when I told them I don’t use recipes. So What I can do to share my wonderful world of cooking is by giving my best shot to record the ingredients I use and the approximate measurements. This is why I started this blog, so I can share them with my friends and everybody else around the world. So please leave your comments on my postings. I would very much appreciate your feedback, what works, what doesn’t work, what I need to clarify and so on. The more feedback you give me, the more I can share the magic of the chemistry of food in the lab I called my kitchen…:-)
I hope my blog can give you some ideas and inspire you to have fun in your kitchen.
Happy cooking everyone!
Marcia
